What should I do when my tulip bulbs arrive?Updated 16 days ago

Upon arrival, open your package and inspect your tulip bulbs right away. Healthy bulbs should feel firm and solid, rather than soft or mushy. A little surface mold, loose or peeling papery skin, or minor blemishes are generally not a concern, but bulbs that are soft, rotting, have a foul odor, or show significant mold or decay should be discarded.

If your bulbs have begun developing small roots or shoots, don’t worry. This can naturally occur during storage and means they’re ready to grow. Handle any new growth carefully to avoid damaging it.

You can plant your tulip bulbs immediately or store them for a few additional weeks in a cool, dark, dry, and well-ventilated location between 34–50°F. Do not leave bulbs sealed in their shipping box or store them in a warm or sunny location.

For best results, we recommend planting your tulip bulbs no later than January 1.
